Research Project: Cardboard Chair

CARDBOARD CHAIR WEBSITES:
1. http://www.designboom.com/cardboard3.html
Reflection: This is the link i mostly liked becaused they tell you everything from sketch to how to make it. This link has instructions. It has what materials you need in order to do the cardboard chair. The link explains from step by step what it's needed to be done. It tells you the measurements and how much weight the chair can take. It has many pictures to help you while constructing the chair. It has many examples. This link has exactly what you need to make the chair. I will recommend this link to the students.
2. http://www.vat19.com/dvds/elia-miniature-cardboard-chair-kit.cfm
Reflection: I love this link because it has many examples. It shows you how to decorate the chair also. It is basically more for children but the are still strong and very creative. This link has the measurements. It has the instructions. It has extra details and  links you can visit to see more information about the chair. I like that it has kids there which makes it look more fun and funny. The link is basically for parents to show their kids but it is still a good link to see. I recommend this link. Students should watch this because its an easier and funner way to learn.
3. http://dornob.com/flat-pack-furniture-eco-friendly-cardboard-chair-designs/
Reflection: This link shows you made awesome chairs. They are more professional. It shows many chairs that are very nice looking but harder to make. They are stronger and bigger compare to the link above. To make one of this chairs I believe you need more time that the time given here because they are more hard to make. Students should really look at this link because you can make a chair for school but pretty for your home. I would really love to make one from this link. I just don't like that the link don't give you instructions. The link only shows you various pictures of cardboard chairs for art.  I could still make it but its harder.

ISOMETRIC SKETCH OF CARDBOARD CHAIR:

MATERIALS FOR CARDBOARD CHAIR:
1. Cardboard Box
2. Yard stick
3. Utility Knife

INSTRUCTION FOR CARDBOARD CHAIR:
1. Open the cardboard box so it lays flat, then measure it. You want the box to be at least 45 inches wide and 60 inches high.
  • 2. Place the cardboard in front of you in a vertical layout. Use the bottom edge of the flattened box as the bottom side of a rectangle that is 45 inches long and 15 inches high. Draw the rectangle, then draw dividing lines inside it at 15-inch intervals to make three 15-inch squares.
    3. Extend the lines up from the middle square in Step 2 an additional 45 inches. Divide it into three 15-inch squares. Finish by drawing a horizontal line at the top of the third square. You should have a T-shaped drawing, made of a total of six 15-inch squares.
    4. Cut out the T-shape and turn it so it looks like an upside down T. Fold back the two squares that "cross" the T until they touch each other behind, forming a triangle. Rotate the cardboard so the triangle sits on the ground. This is the base of your chair.
    5. Fold down the cardboard that now sticks straight up, so it sits on the triangle and is parallel with the ground. The square sitting on top of the triangle is the seat. Fold the last two squares at a 90-degree angle, so they stick straight up.
    6. Press the top square down so that it forms a double-thick chair back. Use whatever means you like to secure the fold. What was once a cardboard box is now a chair. Have a seat.

    Week One Essential Questions

    January 10, 2012:
    1.What is a blog?
    - A blog is like a diary where you can write anything you want, Ex. your experience in a vacation, share photos, links, and you can choose who is able to look at your blog.

    Good & Bad Web Design

    A Good Web Design:
For the text: You must have a background were it does not interrupt the text, the text is big enough to read, but not too big, the hierarchy of information is perfectly clear, and the columns of text are narrower than in a book to make reading easier on the screen.
The Navigation buttons and bars are easy to understand and use, is consistent throughout web site. Navigation buttons and bars provide the visitor with a clue as to where they are, what page of the site they are currently on. Frames, if used, are not obtrusive, a large site has an index or site map.
Link colors have to coordinate with page colors and are underlined so they are instantly clear to the visitor.
For graphics: buttons are not big and dorky, every graphic has an alt label, every graphic link has a matching text link, graphics and backgrounds use browser-safe colors, and animated graphics turn off by themselves.
Generla design has pages download quickly. The first page and home page fit into 800 x 600 pixel space, all of the other pages have the immediate visual impact within 800 x 600 pixels, good use of graphic elements (photos, subheads, pull quotes) to break up large areas of text, and every web page in the site looks like it belongs to the same site; there are repetitive elements that carry throughout the pages.

    A Bad Web Design:
Background has a default gray color, color combinations of text and background that make the text hard to read, busy, distracting backgrounds that make the text hard to read.
Text that is too small to read,Text crowding against the left edge,Text that stretches all the way across the page, centered type over flush left body copy, paragraphs of type in all caps, paragraphs of type in bold, paragraphs of type in italic, paragraphs of type in all caps, bold, and italic all at once, and underlined text that is not a link.
It has junk, such as a counters on pages, junky advertising, having to scroll sideways (800 x 600 pixels), too many little pictures of meaningless awards on the first page, frame scroll bars in the middle of a page, and multiple frame scroll bars in the middle of a page.

What have you learned from the Glider project

I'd learned about the first glidder made by the Wright Brothers. There was the glidder of 1900, 1901, 1902, and 1903. The glidder I had more experience on was the Glidder of 1903. We learned a lto about the pitch & pitch axis. The roll & roll axis, yaw & yaw axis, and center of gravity. I learned that to do a example of a glider is very hard. To do an example you have to take good measurements or it wont turn out good.

On December 17, 1903, Orville Wright piloted the first powered airplane 20 feet above a wind-swept beach in North Carolina. The flight lasted 12 seconds and covered 120 feet. Three more flights were made that day with Orville's brother Wilbur piloting the record flight lasting 59 seconds over a distance of 852 feet.
This was the Glidder of 1903, first flight.

What have you learned about the Blogginh Topic

A Blog is like a personal diary. You can put what ever you want in it, from pictures, poems, to stories. The difference from diary is that you decide who can see your blog. People can follow you and those are the ones that are able to see your informartion that you are giving.

In a blog you can write what ever you want (ex. your experience from a vacation). You can tell a story and add picture to it. You can also add links that you visit often.

There are a million of blogging dedign in the blogging link. You cab chose which blog template you want or you can add your own original one. You cal also arrange everything in what ever way you want.

You can also blog from your mobile phone. Add your mobile phone in your personal info and from your phone you can add anything you want straight to your blog. You just ype and show pictures of what you do in your daily life.
